Introductory Lead-Safe Painting and Remodeling
These free introductory Lead-Safe Painting and Remodeling courses show you how to detect and remedy lead hazards in the home to prevent lead poisoning. Taught by expert staff from the Alameda County Lead Poisoning Prevention Program (ACLPPP), these courses offer simple solutions property owners can use to safely repair and renovate their homes.

HUD and EPA approved 1-day course. Recommended for remodelers, renovators, painters and maintenance workers doing painting and minor repairs. This class leads to a Notice of Completion in training for lead-safe work practices and meets the minimum training requirements for individuals performing certain activities in federally assisted housing including Section 8. Does not qualify for DHS lead certification (see classes for contractors).
New! California Department of Real Estate Continuing Education Credits (CEU's). CEU's are now available to realtors and brokers after attending the Lead Safety for Remodeling, Repair and Painting workshop. Six hours of continuing education under the category of "Consumer Service" will be given to qualifying participants. (Certificate # 4430-)

Cost:Free to owners (and their employed maintenance crews) of residential property built before 1978 in Alameda, Berkeley, Emeryville or Oakland. All others pay $130.
